The Beretta Silver Pigeon, like all Beretta 68x series O/U's, is a timeless classic. One of my all time favorites. (Although full disclosure- I like Citori's as much if not better, making me a rare cat among some of the Beretta lovers!) Notwithstanding the above, and while the Benelli is a fine gun as well, it's still a nice, modern, semi-auto.Beretta or Benelli Shotgun discussions. Benelli is lighter, adjustable for drop only, recoils a bit more, is a little picky with target loads, easier to clean and maintain. Trigger pull is a little heavier on Benelli but not bad. Benelli in my experience is slightly less prone to mechanical trouble.

Plus the aftermarket is larger for the M4, the 1301 has a more limited aftermarket. The 1301 is much lighter, which can be plus for certain uses, but home defense isn’t one of them.
